Connecting to the SDSU wired network is extremely easy. Any laptop or desktop from 2002 or later should have a build in wired networking connection. Below is a step by step guide to connecting to the wired connection.
Get the right cable.
You need to get an Ethernet cable (also called a network cable or Cat5 cable) to connect to the SDSU wired network. A telephone cable will not work. Below is a picture of an Ethernet cable so you know what type to look for:
Plug it into the right jack.
Most of the halls have a wall plate with at least one white jack, at least one orange jack, and at least one cable jack. You want to plug one end of your Ethernet cable into the orange jack. Below is a picture of a wall plate from Chapultepec with two orange jacks for the two people in the room.
Plug the other end into your computer.
Below is a picture of a typical ethernet jack on the right side, with a telephone/modem jack on the left side. Be sure you plug it into the Ethernet jack.
You're done!
You should now be ready to go to the RezCon web site and run the RezCon Installer to activate your computer to get online.
